Just came across this page and found it very useful - even the instructions for the students about expectations for the blog. I teach university students and have just used the Blackboard LMS blog tool. The challenge I faced was the amount of time it takes to keep track of the blog posts (especially with large classes). What I've realised is that you don't need to read every blog post to get a sense of the overall quality, and reflective blogs don't require much teacher feedback as students are self-learning through blogs. I could elaborate but don't want to write an essay here.

I have just started a blog group for a math class on Weebly.com. I find your rubric very helpful. Would you mind if I borrow some of your ideas? :) Thank you.

@Karen---I feel the same way in that it will attract student interaction. Great assignment indeed. Well worth trying it with my class.
