SnagIt and Camtasia (old versions FREE)

One of my readers passed on this tip to the links where you can download OLD versions of Camtasia and SnagIt for free. No kidding. Thanks Elizabeth!

Camtasia Version 3.1.3 (currently in version 5)
Note: Camtasia 3 will not run on Vista.
For more information, see the blog post on the blog, Mobile Learning.

SnagIt Version 7.2.5 (currently in version 8).
For more information, see the blog post on the blog, Around the Corner v2.

These programs do not work on the Mac platform (sorry Mac folks), but I do have it on good authority that TechSmith is trying to produce a version for Macs.

What a great resource for anyone not running Vista. For me this is fantastic, because my home computer (2 years old) does not have Camtasia on it… and I always find myself wanting to do recordings (of course, I use Jing for that).

Kudos to TechSmith for having the guts to give away old software versions for free!

Thanks for the links, Maria. I’ve been using Camtasia 3 since I bought Geetesh Bajaj’s book Cutting Edge PowerPoint for Dummies. C3 is included on the ancillary CD. I’ve been wanting SnagIt, and I’m sure 7.2.5 will work out just fine.

I just bought a program called ScreenFlow that works really nice on my Mac. I also use Jing, but ScreenFlow is better even though it cost $99.00.
